Where is your data sourced?
Price data for EthereumPrice.org is collected through the CryptoCompare.com API.
Why does ETH/EUR trade at a higher USD price than ETH/USD?
The data on this website is based on real trades. For example ETH/GBP may trade at a higher rate than ETH/USD (when converting USD to GBP). This difference in price between markets is common across all assets, however the nascence of cryptocurrency can make these price differences quite extreme. In the instance above, a simple USD to GBP conversion rate would be misleading as such a price would not be an accurate reflection of reality.
See this Wikipedia page on arbitrage for more information.
How often are prices updated?
Prices are updated in every 60 seconds.
How is the market average price calculated?
The market average price is a volume weighted average across multiple exchanges. An exchange which was conducting more volume (more trades) for a certain currency pair (e.g ETH/USD) would have more of an influence on the overall weighted price. The following exchanges are used in the calculation:
Cryptsy, BTCChina, Bitstamp, BTER, OKCoin, Coinbase, Poloniex, Cexio, BTCE, BitTrex, Kraken, Bitfinex, Yacuna, LocalBitcoins, Yunbi, itBit, HitBTC, btcXchange, BTC38, Coinfloor, Huobi, CCCAGG, LakeBTC, ANXBTC, Bit2C, Coinsetter, CCEX, Coinse, MonetaGo, Gatecoin, Gemini, CCEDK, Cryptopia, Exmo, Yobit, Korbit, BitBay, BTCMarkets, Coincheck, QuadrigaCX, BitSquare, Vaultoro, MercadoBitcoin, Bitso, Unocoin, BTCXIndia, Paymium, TheRockTrading, bitFlyer, Quoine, Luno, EtherDelta, bitFlyerFX, TuxExchange, CryptoX, Liqui, BitMarket, LiveCoin, Coinone, Tidex, Bleutrade, EthexIndia, Bithumb, CHBTC, ViaBTC, Jubi, Zaif, Novaexchange, WavesDEX, Binance, Lykke, Remitano, Coinroom, Abucoins, BXinth, Gateio, HuobiPro, OKEX
Why is your price data different to other websites?
The exchanges used in calculating the weighted average will vary from one site to another. CoinMarketCap.com has historically included many high-volume Korean exchanges where the price of Ethereum has often traded as a premium.
Why is your volume data different to other websites?
Total volume is calculated across all of the exchanges tracked. For the same reason to the previous question, different websites will use different exchanges in their volume calculation. It is also important to note that CoinMarketCap’s top 100 list calculates the volume across all currency pairs (ETH/USD, ETH/EUR, ETH/BTC and so on). The volume data displayed on EthereumPrice.org is specific to the pair chosen (by default, ETH/USD).
What is market capitalization (market cap)?
Market capitalization is a measure of the total value of all coins in a network. The calculation is Circulating Coin Supply x Price Per Coin.
What is 24hr volume?
This is the value of total trades (bought or sold) for a given cryptocurrency pair over the previous 24hr period.
